there's a lot to tell...

Hi guys,
This is my first blog and I'm pretty excited with how teched up I am! With special thanks to a good friend of mine Daniel.
So, my last update email to you all was about my weekend in Muenster (Germany) with Nina over Easter. Since then, there's been a fair bit going on, so here goes...
Without a doubt, the highlight after Easter was Lyndon coming back over at the beginning of May. For those of you that don't know about him yet, well...we'll have to have chats so I can fill you in later. We've been having an awesome time together exploring London-town and traveling. We had a great night out for his birthday, I took him to this gorgeous bar in Shoreditch called Lounge Lover for a cocktail and then on to it's sister restaurant next door, Les Trois Garcons. Both places are famed for their extravegant decor, definitely a place to remember! The restaurant had stuffed animals everywhere, on walls, on floors wearing tiara's and strings of pearls, it was like nothing I've ever seen. The food was lovely too.

By mid-May it had been 3 months since I'd left home and I was starting to lose my sanity thanks to London's weather, as apparently we'd had the longest stretch of Winter anyone could remember for a long time. All I was wishing for and talking about was to be in the ocean again and to see the sunshine. Then my friend David (who I work with) and his girlfriend Poe, asked Lyndon and I down to their holiday house in Bournemouth on the south coast of England for a weekend. The weather was starting to reach 20 degrees but of course that weekend it was 14 and raining. It was so amazing to see the ocean again, and I was determined to swim albeit a 12 degree water temp. I just needed to feel the salt water on my skin again and although it hurt, and we were the only maniacs in, it was worth every minute. Locals were strolling the esplanade in raincoats and gumboots while we were braving the freezing North Atlantic. Bournemouth is an old beachside town renowned for it's 7 mile stretch of beach. We had a beautiful dinner at Westbeach (England's best seafood restaurant) overlooking the beach & pier with David, Poe & friends. Here's a photo of what it's supposed to look like when the sun is shining, the others are mine. ;-(

The following weekend we were in Amsterdam for 3 days visiting Lyndon's good friends Alex and Justine. They've just moved back there from the Northern Beaches for Alex's business. They live in a very cool apartment in town overlooking a canal and the Zoo, and have 4 year old twins - Jayla and Alexander who are gorgeous. They arranged a baby-sitter for the Saturday night and the 4 of us went out for drinks and dinner in town to a place called Helden, then went walking around the red-light district like true, inquistive tourists. Oh, and to a 'coffee shop' of course. A lot is legal in that town. But I loved Amsterdam and appreciated it more than when I was last there 8 years ago, I could easily live there.
A few weeks later in mid June I was back to Muenster to help Nina celebrate her birthday and the weather was beautiful! It was also the first weekend of the World Cup in Germany, so a great time to be there, although Muenster was relatively quiet compared to other major game holding cities. Some good friends of ours from Bondi turned up for her party as they were over traveling around in a campervan for the games. We headed out to an outdoor bar/club called The Beach. Basically sand everywhere to make you feel like you're at the beach (next to a canal) in the middle of a country city in Germany, it was classic. Lyndon was in the Caribbean sailing a yacht to help a friend out, so missed The Beach. I'm guessing the beaches he was hanging at were a fraction more picturesque.

Now that Summer has finally arrived, we had our first BBQ at home 2 weeks ago with about 8 friends. Plenty of Pimms were had, Lyndon got totally and utterly 'Pimmed', was very funny.
Daniel Gomez, one of my oldest friends (the guy in the photo I'm laughing with) has just moved over to London for a while too, so he's been staying with us which has been awesome. Belinda (an ex-Cowan employee) is also living here now so very happy about that.

Last weekend we headed back to Amsterdam to baby-sit Jayla & Alexander for the weekend while Alex and Justine came to London. It was full-on and pretty exhausting, but we had a ball. On the Saturday we took them to the beach resort called Scheveningen in The Hague, which is the largest dutch city on the North Sea. It took us over an hour to get there, but luckily another friend of Lyndon's, Bonn, lives there so he picked us up and got us to the beach safely with them. Was great to get in the water again, and to see another coastal town in Europe.

So that's my latest and I bet you're happy that's it. Me too, I won't leave it so long next time. I'm staying put for a while now though, no big trips booked until September with Mum.
How's things at home? I am starting to get a little home sick now I must say. Look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Love, Carly. x
